Overview of Position

The Executive Vice President is responsible for overseeing member service programs and operations, and developing and executing marketing and communication strategies with KBA membership and other external audiences. This position works in partnership with the President to provide leadership and direction for all aspects of the KBA. This position reports to the President and is responsible for supervising other KBA staff members.

In addition to practical skills and experience, this position requires a strong customer focus (with both internal and external customers), team building skills, reliability, integrity and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Member Programs

  • Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of member programs:
  • Continually evaluate and review current programs. Lead the planning and direct the implementation of changes as needed.
  • Analyze member feedback through surveys and/or member committees to determine and select new member programs.
  • Direct the development of new programs to grow value for Association members.
  • Provide guidance and supervision for execution of programs.
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase sponsorship support for KBA events and programs.
  • Develop good working relationships with key staff at member stations.

Marketing & Communications

  • Evaluate current communications vehicles and develop strategies that allow us to deliver valuable, targeted and specific information to our members in the appropriate format.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote all association events, programs, and services to members.
  • Oversee ongoing management of KBA website. Continually refine web strategies and identify new resources to add to website to ensure an effective user experience that best serves members.
  • Develop membership retention and recruitment strategies.
  • Develop and direct the implementation of a social media strategy for KBA.
  • Develop and direct branding and outreach strategies to external audiences, including elected officials and policymakers and the general public as needed.
