Career Opening:  General Manager (GM) of WHOP Radio

Forcht Broadcasting is a community-focused, progressive small market radio group of 25 radio stations in 9 markets in 3 states.  WHOP Radio is Forcht Broadcasting’s largest radio market, reaching communities in Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell, Kentucky and multiple counties and cities in Western Kentucky and Tennessee, including Clarksville, Tennessee. WHOP Radio has been Hopkinsville’s radio station for 80 years, and WHOP AM/FM is the second oldest CBS News Radio affiliate in America. 

Forcht Broadcasting is looking for an individual with radio experience interested in a career with WHOP Radio.  The new WHOP Radio GM will focus on growing revenue and partner and community relations using legacy and traditional radio, digital radio, and Forcht Broadcasting’s marketing experiences.  We’re not interested in applicants who use a “cookie cutter” approach to growing revenue and radio.  We want motivated, passionate, creative leaders who manage a team by encouraging “out of the box” thinking.

Duties/Responsibilities:
*the main responsibility of the GM is to grow revenue for WHOP Radio
*the GM will maintain and develop positive relationships with local businesses and organizations
*the GM will work with the General Sales Manager to develop and implement campaigns and promotions using legacy and digital radio and Forcht Broadcasting’s marketing experiences
*the GM will seek new community partnerships for the radio market
*the GM will present to clients all the radio experience offerings, including the market’s digital radio platforms
*the GM will promote WHOP Radio
*the GM will oversee the staff’s professional development trainings, as provided by Forcht Broadcasting
*the GM will oversee and work with a staff
*the GM will work with the Program Director to ensure current programming is relevant, community focused, entertaining, informative, and appealing to the listener base
*the GM will create, maintain, and operate their radio market’s budget
*the GM will perform other duties as needed

Education/Experience:
*Bachelor’s degree in communications, broadcasting, marketing, business, or public relations preferred
*must have at least 5 years experience in media management/sales and/or prior radio experience
*must be willing to travel in radio market’s listening area and attend relevant industry conferences and events

Compensation:
